Conch

This was a photo I took to show form. I chose the conch because it had a lot of places that would show highlights and shadows.
I used Lightroom to edit in color first, then made it black and white. The edits I made were minimal because I took the photo on a black background with an overhead light.

I was sitting at the table at The Starlite and looked up. I loved how the cool blue light looked on the warm red wall, so I snapped five pictures.
I used Lightroom to edit for HDR and intentionally increased the vibrance and saturation, as well as lowered the shadows and temperature.

I took this photo to show movement. The steps and pathways move you in the direction of both churches.
I used Lightroom to edit. I needed to lower the exposure, but also increased the texture and vibrance for the lush green of the lawn and trees.

I took this photo from the terrace at the Center for Creativity. The best part about this photograph is that my subject is across the street at the opposite end of the block, which was 50 to 100 yards away.
This photo didn't require much editing aside from lowering the exposure and increasing the vibrance.

I took this photo at The Starlite. I considered straightening the picture of Nick Cave but decided against it. It's a whole vibe...
This photograph is HDR, so it required a steady hand since I didn't have a tripod.
Similarly to the other HDR photo, I edited in Lightroom and intentionally increased the vibrance and saturation.
Mourning

I took this photo to show light, color, and gesture in a single image.
My mother passed away in February, and this plant was a gift for her funeral. I took this shot on a whim. After waking up one morning, it was the first thing I saw, and the light hit it just right, so I grabbed my camera and took some shots.
I edited this in Lightroom. It did require quite a bit of editing, including exposure, temperature, clarity, etc., but I intentionally cranked up vibrance and saturation so the colors would pop.

I took this photo on a whim early in the semester. It wasn't quite Golden Hour, but close. I noticed how the sun shone through the petals and had to have it.
This image also required quite a bit of editing. I had to lower exposure and the temperature, but increased clarity, vibrance, and saturation so the orange and purple would shine.

This image was Toy to Life. The moment we were given the assignment, I knew I wanted to do something involving Stargate, which is my favorite sci-fi series.
The Stargate in the background was a gift a few years ago, but the foliage in the back of the scene is from a YouTube video.
I edited this in Lightroom. It didn't require a lot of editing, but I did increase the vibrance a bit.

I took this photograph for a portrait assignment. Bryan has been an enthusiastic subject, letting me use him for photo ideas and assignments all semester. He has been my biggest cheerleader.
I edited this in Lightroom. I adjusted most of the sliders, but especially exposure, clarity, texture, and temperature before making it black and white.

This was in my therapist's office. During our session, I watched the light shift over these flowers and had to take a photo. She moved aside so I could focus on the subject.
I edited in Lightroom, adjusting exposure, texture, vibrance, and saturation.
